Birth: 1846 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Death: June 5, 1903 in Victoria, B.C.
Biography:
Joshua worked with his father in the longstanding auction house of JP Davies & Co, located at 1218 Wharf Street. JP Davies and Co were involved in large real estate sales and sold household items and livestock as well. He took over the business after his father died.
Joshua also took responsibility for his nephew Samuel Davies Schultz’s (financial) welfare as Samuel was an infant when his mother died. He would go on to be the first Jewish Judge in Canada.
After close to 50 years in business, Joshua sold the auction house and became a real estate developer. He was also heavily involved with the Jubilee Hospital. Rumor has it that there was a special room for him to use whenever he needed it.
