The Jewish Cemetery in Victoria BC Canada, owned by the historic Congregation Emanu-El, was created in 1860 and continues to serve the Jewish community of Victoria, Vancouver Island and the adjacent Islands.
Congregation Emanu-El is an egalitarian Conservative Jewish congregation in Victoria, on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia. In 2013 we celebrated our 150th anniversary and now are Canada’s oldest synagogue in continuous use. The synagogue was designated a National Historic Site in 1979.
Congregation Emanu-El and the Cemetery Committee are grateful to the Jewish Federation of Victoria and Vancouver Island for the generous support of a range of past and present projects, all aimed at enhancing the beauty, history and integrity of the Cemetery.
