Dr. Bernard Rauch

Death: January 19, 2018 (age 93) in Victoria, B.C.
Biography:
Born and raised in Montreal, Bernie completed a Bachelors at Queens in ’44 and a Masters in ’54 and then attended dental school at McGill for his DDS. He ran a dental practice with brothers [edited for privacy] on Park Avenue until he settled down with [edited for privacy] in 1974 and moved to Victoria. Bernie bought a dental practice in the Fort Royal Medical Center 1974 to 1976 but adventure called and the fledgling family moved to Cassiar, BC (population 2000) where Bernie was the company town dentist. He supported the town residents and surrounding native communities in northern BC, the Territories, and Nunavut. Bernie then moved his growing family back to Victoria in 1981 where he worked in the prison system at both William Head and Wilkinson Road until his retirement in his seventies. Always an avid fisherman, Bernie spent his retirement fishing at 10 Mile Point and being the proud grandfather of six grandchildren.
