Biography:
Charles was a theater manager during the Klondike Gold Rush as a theatre manager.

After moving back to Victoria, on March 9, 1908, Charles, his wife and a friend went out to the theatre. They returned home and had a snack. Shortly before midnight, Charles went into the kitchen for a glass of water and was attacked by an intruder hiding in the pantry. They struggled before the intruder pressed a rusty .38 revolver to the left side of Charles’ chest and pulled the trigger. Bleeding, Charles chased the attacker out of the house. He then fell, mortally wounded. Before he died he said; “Marion, I’m shot, I’m done for.”
