The Levy Family Plot
The family plot of Phoebe Levy her husband Joseph and daughter Annie was missing the grave of Annie’s husband Abraham. At the request of their descendant Carolyn Hahn, a headstone for Abraham was placed on the family plot. Family plot prior to adding the gravestone for Abraham Levy:
The Lewis Family Plot
Aaron Lewis, son of Lewis Lewis and brother of Philip Lewis was on the list of unknown plot locations. At the request of descendants a gravestone for Aaron was placed on the Lewis family plot. Lewis family plot prior to the addition of a gravestone for Aaron.
Landscaping Maurice “Moss” Platnauer’s Plot
The plot of Maurice “Moss” Platnauer had fallen into disrepair. The concrete was cracked and the monument was leaning. Starting on February 22, 2026 Tony Leiman and Rick Kool were able to clear the concrete and fill the grave. Before work began: Work in process: Awaiting planting:
The Sylvester Family Plot
Frank Sylvester, his wife Cecelia and their son Clarence “Toots” are buried in a family plot. The death of their very young granddaughter, Louise “Muriel” Campbell in Winnipeg was a tragedy for the family. Muriel’s name was on the ‘unknown plot location’ list, however, records indicate that she was buried in the Sylvester family plot.Continue reading “The Sylvester Family Plot”
Fixing the Leaning Monuments
On January 30, 2025, Carl Hughes and his team from Meadowlark Memorials straightened the monuments of Philip Lewis, Benjamin Pruss, David Brown and for the Oppenheimer family plot. Professor Erin mentored a high school student on a capstone project of cleaning gravestones in the cemetery. The graves of Annabelle and Eli Bean were fully cleaned and the grave of Isaac Alexandor was partially cleaned as was the marker stone for Judge Schultz.

Wilf Bruch of the Old Cemeteries Society restored the grave of Sarah Oppenheimer, wife of businessman, investor, philanthropist, David Oppenheimer. David was the mayor of Vancouver from 1888-1891. Charting the Progress on cleaning Gabriel Henry Seelig’s grave
The cleaning of Gabriel Seelig’s grave began on April 20, 2024 and was completed on June 30, 2024. A number of people helped Amber Woods clean this monument including Andy Muchin, Janis Silver, and Daniel Barer.
