Plot:
When the grave was prepared for Hinda Shapiro (Row D- Plot 54) small bones and small metal handles were found. It is thought that these are the remains of the Sylvester twins.
Without a birth or death date, it’s hard to tell whether pioneer Cecelia Sylvester her daughter-in-law, Daisy was the one to give birth.
The First Two Years: A Record of the Jewish Pioneers on Canada’s Pacific Coast 1858-60 by David Rome, published by H.M. Caiserman in Montreal, 1942 has a footnote on page 8 which reads:The Sylvester children are: Miss Louise Sylvester, Mrs. H. Menkus, Mrs. Rachel Campbell, Mrs. McRae, Mrs. A.B. Ellis, William Sylvester (died 1931), Jesse Sylvester, Clarence Sylvester (traditionally secretary of May 24th Celebration Committee, died in 1933 at the age of 57) and the Sylvester twins who died in infancy.
There is also a record that William Bill Sylvester, son of Frank and Cecelia Sylvester and his wife E.E. (Daisy) had twins who were born on February 12, 1906. One died on February 12, 1906 and another died on February 24, 1906.
It’s hard to tell which set of twins were discovered in this plot.
