Seymour “Chuck” Schactman

Biography:
The Times Colonist published an obituary July 5-7, 2023 which reads:
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Chuck (Seymour) Schactman. Chuck passed peacefully on July 4, 2023 from Alzheimer’s disease.
Chuck is loved and missed by his wife Rhonda, daughters Alissa (Eric) and Amy, his grandchildren Maddy and Pierre, his brother Morrie (Marylin), sister-in law Sharon , many nephews and nieces, extended family and close friends. Chuck is pre-deceased by his parents Louie and Sussie Schactman, and brother Steve.
Chuck was a dedicated health care leader. He spent his career supporting children’s health on Vancouver Island and was Executive Director of Population and Family Health at Island Health. He was passionate about ensuring everyone had equal access to health care. He also served on the board of directors of the Victoria Youth Clinic.
Chuck enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid gardener, hiker in Mount Doug and bird watcher. Most of all he loved playing with his grandchildren. Chuck loved to make people laugh and kept his sense of humour until the end. According to Chuck the most important things in life are love and laughter.
The family would like to thank their family and friends for their incredible love and support. A special thank you to Broadmead Day Program and Kiwanis Pavilion for taking good care of Chuck. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Alzheimer’s Society or Kiwanis Pavilion.
