Judge Samuel Schultz Marker Stone

(additional images below)

It is a marker stone in honor of Judge Schultz placed by Arthur Levy at his own expense. There is no one buried in this spot.

Upkeep in the cemetery had been a chronic problem. Arthur Levy looked for the grave of Judge Samuel Davies Schultz and was unable to locate it. In 1958, he tried to redress the problem by writing letters to the local papers. As his pleas were unanswered or rejected, Arthur Levy took it upon himself to rectify the situation. In 1961, he ordered and paid for a marker stone so that Judge Samuel Davies Schultz would be remembered and counted as an important part of Victoria’s Jewish community.
