Biography: SHAFFER, Claire Passed away on May 11th, 2014 at 106 years of age. She was born on April 13th, 1908 in Fort Qu’appelle, Saskatchewan, and went to college in North Battleford, Saskatchewan where she met her husband, moving then to Loreburn where she started her family and after that to Moosejaw and finally to Victoria where she lived for the last fifty-four years. Claire is predeceased by her husband, Leon and daughter Darlyn, and survived by her son Cyril and grandchildren Eileen, Dean, Drew, Myles and nephew Noel. A graveside service was held at the Jewish cemetery in Victoria on Monday, May 12th, 2014. Claire will be remembered for her incredible optimism and strength of spirit and, most of all, for her ability to love and accept everyone equally. Her generosity and good sound advice will leave a profound effect on all who knew her. We will miss her deeply.
