Biography:
Lewis Levy was born in Poland in 1853. According to his obituary which was published in the Port Angeles Evening News on January 18, 1929, he immigrated to New York. He moved to Victoria, then to Alaska before settling in Port Angeles in May, 1888. He also became a naturalized citizen of the United States that year.

Lewis had a number of business interests including real estate. He was dedicated to to building up the city of Port Angeles. Lewis’ ties to the businessmen of Victoria remained strong and he sometimes acted as an agent for those merchants with property in Port Angeles. He was a Freemason and a member of the Elks Club.

After a few days in hospital, Lewis died from stomach trouble at the age of 73. He had been hospitalized a few days prior to his death. Lewis was a member of the Masons and Elks lodges. Those organizations were responsible for his funeral.
