Dvora was an artist, writer, and educator. She held an M.Ed. in Art Education from the University of Victoria and an M.A. in English and Creative Writing from Bar Ilan University. She taught creative art and writing workshops to all ages in formal and informal settings.

The following eulogy was Published by Victoria Times Colonist from November. 16 to November. 18, 2024.
Dvora left on her next adventure in the same way she lived her life – with courage and in control, with the assistance of MAID and the extraordinary medical support teams at her home and at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. After a series of illnesses, accidents and medical complications, she is flying free again.
Dvora was a woman of many parts: social worker and social justice warrior; feminist and fierce protector of the underdog; peacemaker and poet; mystic and magnificent friend. Strengthened by her supportive Jewish community in Congregation Emmanuel, Dvora made a difference in this world. And she had fun doing it!
She was a woman of principle, a woman of substance. May her memory be a blessing.
A Remembrance
by Amber Woods
Dvora contacted us, Kouskous (Gary Cohen and Amber Woods) because she wanted Jewish music as part of her book launch for Sharav published by Ekstasis Editions 2008. Dvora came over and selected the songs she wanted played. She also had the idea of reading a poem to the beat of the Doumbek, the Middle-Eastern hand drum. We asked her if she wanted a fast or slow rhythm. She said she didn’t care. We asked if she wanted a certain mood, and again she said that she didn’t care. Whatever we asked, she answered the same; she didn’t care.
So, Gary began drumming. I followed his lead. Dvora listened for a moment and then in perfect time, she read her poem. When she finished, she let the music hang in the room for a moment. Dvora then observed that matching her rhythm to ours gave her a whole new interpretation and feeling about her poetry.
Her only direction to us at the book launch was to surprise her with our drumming.
