According to her death certificate, Registration # 1914-09-029186, as well as obituaries in the local papers, Elizabeth died on December 8, 1914. The date on the gravestone is incorrect.

Biography:
Elizabeth, known as Betsy Levy Hart was born in London in 1820. She was lifelong friends with her sister-in-law Esther Solomon Levy wife of Betsy’s brother Benjamin Levy.  In 1841 both young women were sent to New Zealand by Jewish charities in London to become Jewish brides. She married and then divorced George W. Watson, a non-Jewish man. She returned to England without a Jewish husband.

In 1855 she married her second husband, David Hart and the couple immigrated to Victoria. She had no children.  She died on December 8, 1914.  Henry Emanuel (H.E.) fondly, remembered her as ‘aunt’.
