Biography:
Submitted by George’s wife Janice Földes

György (George) Földes born in Baja, Hungary on May 20, 1948.

His family of 4 escaped  the 1956 Hungarian Revolution to Austria accompanied by a Guide during the night.

Since the waiting period for a Visa to the  USA took months; the Földes family decided upon  a Canadian Visa which took days.  They decided to immigrate to Canada and boarded  the ship “Arcadia” for Montreal.

George was educated in Montreal. He graduated West Hill High (Montreal) in 1966.

Continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Science from Sir George Williams University.

I met George at the ‘Snowdon YMYWHA’ July 1971. We married at the Beth Aaron Synagogue on March 24, 1974. Through the years we lived in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver (both our sons born in Vancouver)  and settled in Victoria in 2005 where he took up kayaking as a favourite sport.
