Biography:
An obituary was published in the Times Colonist from March 25-27, 2023 which reads:
Emma passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice on March 14, 2023. She is survived by her three daughters and their families: Morlene, Kristofer, Kai, Kollins, Kimberlie, and Damian; Melodie and Christopher; Michelle, Dennis, Amye, and Aaron; and her beloved cat Murphy.
Emma was born in 1934 in Esterhazy Saskatchewan to German-Russian immigrant parents, Elizabeth and Martin Metzler, and grew up on a farm in nearby Bredenbury. She had a passion for life that extended to her many hobbies and occupations. Emma worked in real estate, and in administration in both healthcare and retail. In all things she displayed a flair for management and an eye for style.
Throughout Emma’s life she enjoyed sports including golf, lawn bowling, bridge, curling and dancing. She was a member of two Victoria bridge clubs where she earned Life Masters points. During the pandemic Emma learned to play on-line bridge. She delivered her delicious cakes, pies and muffins to her family and friends and most generously, to many front-line workers as a gesture of thanks.
Emma was laid to rest next to her husband, Stanley Abrams in the Victoria Jewish Cemetery on March 14th.
Emma’s family extends their gratitude to the staff at Royal Jubilee Palliative Care 8 South and Victoria Hospice for their caring and compassionate support during Emma’s last weeks. Heartfelt thanks also go to Dr. Rosenberg and his team for their excellent care of Emma throughout this past year.
